About the Role

At KCDC, we are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Bharatanatyam dancers, preserving the integrity of this classical art while elevating it to new heights. We are seeking extraordinary Bharatanatyam teachers with a deep-rooted passion for dance, exceptional performance credentials, and extensive teaching experience—both in-person and online.

Who We're Looking For:
Experience: Minimum 15+ years of professional Bharatanatyam performance experience and at least 5+ years of online teaching experience.
Expertise: Profound knowledge of Bharatanatyam, with a strong ability to inspire, mentor, and develop dedicated dancers.
Teaching Skills: Proven ability to engage and train students effectively in a virtual setting, fostering technical precision and artistic expression.
Style Specialization: While we welcome applicants from all Bharatanatyam styles, preference will be given to Kalakshetra-style teachers for foundational training.
Commitment to Excellence: A dedication to upholding the highest standards of Bharatanatyam and contributing to the growth of a vibrant dance community across North America.

  • Job Type: Part-time (8-10 hours per week)

  • Location: Remote with occasional in-person teaching in New York for workshops, intensives, and special events

  • Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications

  • Performance Experience: Minimum 15+ years of professional Bharatanatyam performance experience.

  • Teaching Experience: At least 5+ years of online teaching experience.

  • Expertise in Bharatanatyam: Strong understanding of technique, theory, and artistic expression.

  • Online Teaching Proficiency: Ability to effectively train students in a virtual setting, ensuring clarity, engagement, and progress.

  • Style Specialization: Open to all Bharatanatyam styles; however, preference is given to Kalakshetra-style teachersfor foundational training.

  • Passion for Mentorship: Commitment to cultivating serious and dedicated dancers.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to articulate and demonstrate concepts with clarity and precision.

  • Cultural and Artistic Integrity: Deep respect for Bharatanatyam traditions while being open to innovative teaching methodologies.

  • Travel Requirement: Occasional travel is required for in-person KCDC events, workshops, and performances in New York and other locations.
